I currently work in hand cut paper collage with hand painted newsprint. I am inspired by shapes, colors and patterns I see in everyday life.  My process is intuitive, choosing a palette and cutting shapes inspired by the doodles from the margins of my notebooks since childhood.  I work in layers, moving and shifting until the pattern and layout syncs up to my imagination.

I have experimented in various forms of art my whole life.  Collage appeals to me because of the tactile quality of cutting shapes and textures from the paper. I also come from a long line of quilters and have always been attracted to the patterns and process of quilt work. I find the process of collaging meditative and allowing myself to trust my inner voice has not only given me pleasing results, it has also been healing. 

I tell visual stories through the color and shape created in the collage. The colors, textures and patterns that emerge express themes of balance, play and joy that comes from expression.
